Taiwan Flexo Technology Seminar,
July 2002

Taiwan Flexo Technology Seminar was perfectly ended in the evening of July 12. It is a successful seminar, which drew more than 150 attendees and crowded the venue with printing professionals and businessmen. This seminar was organized by Joint Colour Company and sponsored by Printing Technology Research Institute, Taiwan Paper Containers Industry Association, and Printers Magazine.

Totaled 29.9% of the attendees are flexo printers including 19.7% corrugated board printers, and 18.9% are offset printers, 10.2% are letterpress printers and 21.3% are gravure printers. Remaining 19.7% comes from silkscreen, designers, academics, and material suppliers etc.

There were five speakers in the seminar. The first one is Mr. Josep Roca, / Asia Pacific Sales Area Manager of Comexi s.a. Mr. Roca introduced WIDE-WEB FLEXO PRINTING MACHINES AND INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY. During his speech, he highlighted the importance of "In war, you must win; in attacking, you must take the initiative. If it is not beneficial to the country, do not take action. If you cannot win, do not go to war." -Art of War (Sun Tzu).

The continuing is the technical manager of BASF, Mr. Markus Feil, who is now located in Bangkok. Mr. Feil introduces Thin Plate Technology and Digital Plates. Currently only few printers in Taiwan can make fine and separate-colored plates or digital plates. That's the subject Mr. Feil presented and Taiwan printers desired to know that.

The third speeker, Mr. Yuichi Sasaki of Praxair Japan, was introducing "The Selection of Anilox Rollers in Flexo Printing Industry". Many audiences were surprised to know that anilox roller has been one of key success factors of making a stable and even tone-transfer of flexo printing. The following is Mr. Kondoh Masahiko, Taiwan president of Sakata Inks. Mr. Masahiko introduced Inkmaker Dispensing System.

The last one speaker was Mr. Jeng-Shung Chen, the president of Printers' Magazine, who introduced us What the Potential of Flexography in 21th Century. Mr. Chen also estimated that in year 2015, Flexo, Offset, and Gravure would each occupy one-third of the printing market. Mr. Chen raised ten major advantages of flexo plates to show the promising market opportunities especially in packaging printing industry.

Lastly Mr. Willy Yang / Full Land Industry introduced new-installation comexi FJ2108 and demonstrated the quick-change system to all attendees. The seminar was ended by satisfaction and excitement.
